For the second year in a row I am happy to offer you my January annual feature that we can all benefit from: my "Best Resources of the Year" Issue!
Below, you will find links to several articles and resources that I hope offer advice, solace, encouragement, and education at a time when we could use all of those things. I regularly tell my clients that they get to decide how they will "write the story" of the previous yar--will it be the worst year ever, or the year that challenged them to review their values, set new goals, take on negative beliefs, and deal with their relationship
issues? (Maybe a little of both!) "It's up to you" I tell them, recognizing how difficult it can be to accept accountability for our own lives, especially when so much is out of our hands.
When it seems that there is little one has control over, it is helpful to remember that we retain the ability to choose our response to what is happening around us. Our responses can make the difference between suffering and pain, regret and growth.
But responding rather than reacting can be hard work--it requires that we take action rather than blame others (or ourselves). Let's face it--blame is easier! Unfortunately, it is also a dead end. Nothing much changes. As a therapist, I am interested in helping clients achieve the change they hope for.
So with that, I offer you my "best of" resource guide for the start of the year. I hope that you find something of value in the list!
